Description
Under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, serves as the key liaison and coordinator between clinical departments and Information Technology at Gateway Medical Center. The Clinical Informaticist will ensure that technology is used appropriately; established technical and quality standards are followed. Responsibilities included are:
Designing, building, configuring and improving EHR/EMR systems that streamline hospital clinical workflow(s).
Work as a liaison bet! ween clinical departments and Information Technology.
! Work with Information Technology Application team members implement new solutions and troubleshoot and resolve issues related to existing clinical application systems.
Lead resource for Meaningful Use and other clinical project tasks.
Create documentation related to clinical systems for hospital staff (ex: Policy, clinical training documentation, etc…).
Train clinical staff on clinical systems when necessary
Qualifications
Education / License / Certification
Graduate of an approved school of nursing (BSN preferred)
Currently licensed in state of Tennessee or compact state as a Registered Nurse, in good standing
Experience / Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a 150+ bed hospital working in or with the IT department.
Project leadership/management (preferred/not required).
Works well in a mixed team environment â€" required.
Working knowledge of Elec! tronic Health Records (EHR)/Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Analytical skills to collect and research data.
Problem solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Strong clinical skills.
Excellent verbal and written skills for the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences, including physicians, nurses, physician(s) office staff and management.
Ability to learn quickly and perform analyses.
Deal effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Handle multiple priorities and react well under pressure.
Good organizational skills.
Proficient in the Microsoft suite of software.
Understanding of McKesson and/or Cerner clinical software suite(s) (Preferred but not required)
