The Nursing Home Administrator accepts 7 day/week, 24/hour/day responsibility for administering, directing and coordinating all activities of ! the facility.
Develops long and short-range objectives in order to assure that the facility programs and resident care are maintained and improved. Maintains effective facility operations in compliance with current federal, state, JCAHO and local statutes and regulations. Evaluates individual departmental functions and guides managers toward desired goals. Emphasizes cohesiveness in achieving facility objectives. Establishes effective rapport with facility staff, residents, family members, visitors and other customers. Promotes a safe environment for residents and employees through the use of regular inspections, periodic evaluations, and allocation of resources for facility maintenance. Prepares/assures the preparation of an annual budget for the facility appropriately allocating resources to meet the facility's financial program objectives. Ensures efficient utilization, control, and conservation of the facilities' physical and financial assets and resources.
Prom! otes favorable public relations. Negotiates for improvement of! facility and equipment. Provides sound fiscal program. Coordinates activities of staff with those of other departments. Recommends, modifies and develops policies and procedures for various activities. Performs related administrative and supervisory duties to assure efficient operation of the facility. Develops a professional relationship with the Medical Director and other medical practitioners to ensure a well-planned and implemented medical care program. Meets regularly with the health care team to assess that appropriate care is being delivered consistent with licensure and accreditation requirements. Provides management development for managers that enhance individual and group performance. Implements and evaluates a safety plan for the facility which will ensure the health, welfare, and safety of residents, staff, visitors and other customers. Coordinates the development and implementation of personnel policies including job descriptions, performance appraisal proces! ses, recruitment, hiring, employment and termination of staff, in conjunction with Human Resources. Establishes clear lines of authority and responsibility within the staff to assure understanding and production of work and the methods for accomplishment. Accepts responsibility for the overall direction/implementation of the Performance Improvement program for the facility.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Nursing Home Administrator reports to the Director of Rehab Services/CEO of the facility in Washington county or, The CEO of JCMC, or another VP in the system at Indian Path Medical Center.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
At a minimum, the Nursing Home Administrator will possess a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate clinical or management discipline, a Master's degree in the same area/or in a management discipline is preferred and hold a current license as Nursing Home Administrator in the appropriate state. The position requires a minimum of two years experience! as a licensed administrator or three years successful experience in a ! healthcare administrative field. Will be required to update technical expertise and to develop management/leadership skills through continuing education throughout tenure in this position and be knowledgeable on standards and regulations of nursing facilities. Ability to apply the concepts of organizational theory, human resource management, and communication skills appropriately. Ability to apply research findings in the Nursing home setting.
