Purpose of P! osition and Scope of Responsibility:
Develops, administers, directs, and implements all nursing and related patient care activities, for areas of accountability. Works in close collaboration with the nursing team to meet and support diverse organizational business initiatives/strategies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to standardization of systems, identification of efficiencies, financial oversight for areas of accountability programs/services, integration of performance improvement strategies, support of strategic nursing business initiatives, processes and communication plans which support nursing goal attainment while fostering patient, physician and employee satisfaction. Works collaboratively with all hospital departments to operationalize nursing integration, service line development, and standardized nursing practice.
Reporting Relation:
Works directly for entity CNO and in collaboration with the Nursing/Administrative Leade! rship regarding all essential functions.
Has direct a! ccountability for overall nursing operations for areas of responsibility.
Has shared accountability working in partnership with designated entity CNO, and administrative staff, department directors, system and market support staff in the establishment and achievement of nursing goals/objectives.
Has shared accountability with Entity CNO in the assessment and evaluation of nursing staff in the area of responsibility.
Works collaboratively with Entity CNO to ensure program/service development and/or delivery of care are in alignment with overall strategic direction/regulatory standards.
Essential Functions:
Provides leadership to ensure that goals and objectives are in alignment with nursing initiatives.
Implements and evaluates established integration strategies for overall performance/process improvement, quality measurers/indicators, compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory agencies, medical management, and standard! ization/consolidation of current and new services within areas of accountability.
Participates in the development and implementation of the operating strategic plans and programs necessary to meet strategic direction established by Nursing Leadership Team.
Collaborates with Nursing Leadership to determine, “best nursing clinical practices†to support the design of most effective/efficient patient care delivery models to meet the needs of targeted patient populations within the hospital.
Implements established nursing policies/procedures, programs, and standards of care, working in collaboration and partnership with appropriate leadership teams. Ensures legal compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies. Ensures recognition and reporting through established channel of any patient safety issues or concerns.
Develops, implements and evaluates retention strategies which reinforces organizational commitment to Service First focusing ! on providing quality patient care while fostering optimal employee and ! physician satisfaction.
Serves as resource and liaison to nursing leadership providing consultative services in designated areas of nursing operations.
Promotes relationships between academic educational institutions and professional nursing practice within the entity to ensure the highest standards of care for the patient. Supports professional competency and personal growth of staff through ongoing educational programs.
Manages capital and operating nursing budgets and evaluates variance analysis and resource utilization management using prescribed financial targets and productivity standards for areas of accountability.
Supports programs which focus on placement and care of patients across the continuum to include hospital, home care and hospice patient care services.
Promotes development of collaborative relationships with members of the medical staff.
Participates in the development of orientation, training and education! al initiatives. Assures such strategies are implemented so that staff is able to demonstrate appropriate competencies and evaluates programs in collaboration with Director of Nursing Education to ensure training and educational efforts meet changing clinical needs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required or a progressive plan to obtain degree. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration,
Nursing or related field preferred. TN RN license required.
Strongly prefer experience as a Director for a large ER over 50,000 per year. This position also has a 38 bed ICU and the House Supervisors and the Float Pool report to it.
3 years progressive, outcome oriented leadership experience in health with experience in a competitive managed care market.
Knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance and managed care with emphasis in all components and nursing operations.
