Direct and coordinate the Nursing department within assigned units to meet State, Federal and accreditation standards and provide quality services to our residents in accordance ! with McKendree Village policies and procedures. Maintain fiscal oversight of the nursing department within assigned units.

Duties of the Job

Promote and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment within the unit, demonstrating respect, consideration and a positive attitude towards residents, family members and staff.

Make rounds throughout the unit to assess needs of residents and follow-up on problems,! condition changes, transfers and admissions.

Coordin! ate the delivery of nursing services within the unit in order to meet the needs of residents and maintain quality of service.

Actively communicate with other departments including Activities, Dietary, Rehab, and Social Services to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach is taken to resident care.

Ensure that the Unit operates within compliance of State and Federal regulations and applicable accreditation requirements.

Demonstrate knowledge and support of nursing policy, procedure and programs and ensure that unit maintains compliance. Make recommendations for enhancement where appropriate. Serve as a resource to personnel regarding policies, procedures and problems.

Demonstrate familiarity with Emergency Plan and assist in practicing emergency responses.

Assist with the department’s budget compilation and exercise management within the department’s fiscal guidelines.

Oversee staffing process to ensure adequate coverage ! and compliance with policy and established guidelines.

Assess employee injuries and/or illnesses and make proper referral for treatment.

Coordinate Medicare/Medicaid and PPS requirements; maintain weekly skilled report; review admissions for eligibility, skilled status, etc. Coordinate utilization review and prepare PAE’s for submission on a timely basis.

Participate in department hiring and selection to ensure the presence of qualified personnel. Coordinate hiring efforts with Human Resources.

Conduct performance evaluation of staff. Initiate and document corrective action procedures where necessary and appropriate, in accordance with facility policy.

Provide clinical backup and be available to assess and manage episodic sub acute health problems, also making daily rounds to check on residents and/or to ensure quality of care provided.

Oversee clinical orientation assignments and process and perform skills check-off a! s needed.

Demonstrate familiarity with contract programs such ! as IV, oxygen, x-ray, lab, etc.

Demonstrate knowledge of RAI and computer programs that supports the RAI process. Assist in insuring that MDS and care planning deadlines are met.

Attend licensed nurse meetings, locations committee, PI committee and other meetings as appropriate and assigned.

Assist with Performance Improvement and auditing efforts.

Assist in dealing with resident, family and staff concerns. Work together with administration to reach positive outcomes.

Assist with screening of potential Admissions.

Other duties as assigned by the DON or Administrator.

Qualifications

Required:
Currently licensed as RN in the State of Tennessee
Three (3)+ years of experience as RN
One (1)+ years of experience in management position.
Demonstrated ability to relate and communicate with physicians, nursing staff, residents and families.
Thorough understanding of Federal, State, and ! Accreditation guidelines as pertains to long-term care.
Experience in dealing with Medicare and Medicaid programs.
