JOB DESCRIPTION
DIVISON: NUCOR STEEL MEMPHIS

POSITION: OCCU PATIONAL HEALTH NURSE - EXT
GRADE: SALARY + ROA BONUS
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
This is a professional position with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. Areas of responsibility may include, however are not limited to the following: Provide emergency medical care to injured and ill employees on-site and seeing that the best continual care possible is received by coordinating with outside healthcare facilities, and performing follow-up care when appropriate. Workers Compensation program management for work related injuries and illnesses. Administer the plant drug and alcohol testing program. Build and maintain a support and advisory relationship with the on-site emergency rescue team, which includes scheduled training. Manage the occupational medical programs including administering audiograms, qualifying employees for respirator use through pulmonary function and fit testing, and managing lead and cadmium surveillance programs. Develo p and administer a plant-wide ergonomics program. This position requires a moderate amount of administrative work such as maintaining health and safety training records, inventory control of health and safety supplies and equipment, and organizing/scheduling plant-wide training.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Background - Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic with accompanying degree, license or certification.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Knowledge of, and ability to, quickly learn other programs.
- Trauma Experience
- Positively and effectively interact with managers, supervisors and production employees
- Workers' compensation insurance I case management personnel
PREFERENCES:
- Industrial Hygiene I Occupational Health Program Experience - Lead and Cadmium Surveillance, Hearing Conservation Oversight, Respiratory Protection, and Occupational Drug & Alcohol Testing and HIPAA Training
