:

The Pre-op assessment staff is r! esponsible for providing individualized care during the preoperative period utilizing the nursing process and established standards of care, and under the direction of the Registered Nurse. This requires assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients through clinical knowledge and skills. She will treat all customers with actions that contribute to high levels of customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.

Delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to facility Policy and Procedure.

Reports interventions and outcomes to the Registered Nurse in a timely and efficient manner.

2.

Demonstrates ability to meet patient’s and family’s learning needs as identified in the plan of care.

Orients the patient and family to the patient care routine and provides teaching to the patient and family as needed.

3.

Demonstrates continued competence in treati! ng, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs u! tilizing a developmental perspective.

4.

Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.

5.

Follows established facility policies

and procedures with regard

to attendance.

6.

Utilizes time effectively.

7.

Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.

8.

Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Demonstrates competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.

Practices infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained.

9.

Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care.

10.

Interacts with all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees in a mature, respo! nsible manner to ensure a positive and professional environment.

11.

Maintains working status of instruments and equipment; ascertains that broken and/or missing instruments are properly repaired or replaced.

12.

Observes cost containment practices; evaluates and maintains appropriate inventory levels.

13.

Respects and complies with decisions made by the Administrator/Facility Manager and Management; communicates with others in a direct, respectful, and effective manner; will treat customers with actions that exemplify high levels of customer service.

14.

Will address and respond to all complaints in a timely manner; will notify Administrator or Management of any physician or patient complaints.

15.

Will participate in the QI plan by tracking any data in accordance with established guidelines.

16.

Actively participates in staff meetings and in-services and professiona! l organizations.

Qualifications

Education:
! High School Diploma or GED

Current Tennessee LPN license

Experience:
Minimum of three years knowledge and experience in an

Ambulatory

Surgery

Center

or Endoscopy Lab/Pretesting.

License/Certifications:
Current Tennessee LPN license

BLS Certification required.
