Quality Assurance Registered Nurse
POSITION SUMMARY : This position will be responsible for performing the duties of the department in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards/regulations and as may be directed by the D irector of Quality Assurance and Branch Administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assists in the planning, organization and direction of Quality Assurance programs and related activities Assists staff in the evaluation of programs necessary to improve programs and assure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assists in the coordination of studies performed within the Quality Assurance program and prepare reports as required
- Establishes and maintains tracking systems for identified problems/indicators
- Develops and implements appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies as needed
- Perform administrative requirements such as completing forms, writing reports, etc., and submit to the Director of Quality Assurance, Administrators or appropriate agencies
- Assists in developing a reference library of written quality assessment and assurance material, laws, etc., necessary for complying with current standards and regulations, and that will provide assistance in maintaining quality resident care
- Participates in the Nursing Administration “On Call†schedule as directed by the Director of Nursing  May make visits to clients homes, as needed or as assigned
- Assists in developing annual auditing schedules as well as audit development when identified
- Assists in the maintenance of tracking logs, incident and accidents, medication errors etc. and monitors trends requiring corrective actions
- Assists in the investigation of incidents, injuries, sentinel events, abuse and misappropriation of resident property.
- Assist in the development and delivery of educational programs revolving around all components of Quality Assurance, including orientation for new employees and programs to address the Quality Assurance process and Regulatory guidelines
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information< /li>
- Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
- Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations and requirements
- Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor degree in Nursing from an accredited university
- Must possess a current and active license to practice as an RN in state working
- 3-5 years’ previous experience in clinical health care including direct experience in quality assurance
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable of quality assessment and assurance procedures
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
