Responsibilities

Responsible for coding education and training of physicians and/or physician offic! es. Responsible for monitoring and auditing medical record coding performed by physician offices or clinics to ensure proper CPT and/or ICD-9 coding requirements are met.

Responsible for providing education and training to physician groups/offices on correct coding initiatives, auditing high volumes of medical records to ensure correct and appropriate code assignment, reporting on findings resulting from chart audits, ensuring accurate data entry for CMS submission, and providing education and training to physician groups/offices on correct coding initiatives. Ensures policies and procedures are monitored and updated to include regulatory changes. Training/education of physicians and/or physician offices through one-on-one and mass communications/presentations. Day and evening off-site and telephonic training/education. In and out of state travel may be required.

• This position will be located in Jackson, TN. .

Requirements

Qual! ifications

Minimum: Licensed Practical Nurse /! Registered Nurse or some type of coding certification, which may include Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist for Providers (CCS-P), Certified Coding Specialist for Hospitals (CCS-H), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or nursing medical background LPN/RN. Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM and/or CPT coding principles and guidelines. Familiarity with physician-specific regulations and polices related to documentation and coding. Prior experience teaching/training others on correct coding guidelines and/or have the ability to present to large groups of Physicians/Providers.

Preferred: At elast two years experience in hospital inpatient / outpatient or medical office coding. Knowledge of Medicare Risk Adjustment. Prior audit/quality experience. .
