Description

The Patient Service Associate is responsible for patient meal service on assigned units, e.g. menu selection, tray assembly, tray d! elivery and pick up, special requests and needs, and between meal food deliveries. The Patient Service Associate must communicate patient food issues, concerns, and needs to Food and Nutrition Services and interact with nursing in regards to patient meal needs. The Patient Service Associate interacts with the dietitian with monitoring of patients on NPO and clear liquid meal plan status and records percent food intake and completes intake analysis (calorie counts) when ordered. The Patient Service Associate reacts accurately and effectively to all menu or meal changes to ensure efficient timing of services, accuracy of physician’s ordered modified diets and is familiar with therapeutic meal plans to ensure optimal patient care and patient satisfaction. The Patient Service Associate is responsible for patient satisfaction on assigned units.

Qualifications

Education / License / Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience / Skills:
Experience in health care food ! service desirable

Ability to read, writes, speak English, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Complete simple math skills.

Strong verbal communication skills; ability to interact with patients and staff congenially.

Ability to perform multiple tasks and assignments given to self and others over long periods of time and on a frequent basis.

Ability to understand and relate to specific ideas, generally several at a time.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
