professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent
with the philosophy and objectives of Compass
Intervention Center and ! the ANA Standards of
Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. The Registered Nurse creates a safe environment for clients,
provides direct supervision of clients, empowers clients, and teaches
new tools for coping to clients .
The Registered nurse prescribes, coordinates and delegates
nursing care utilizing the nursing process that is integrated into
the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Registered
nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift
basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional
nursing practice on the unit. The Registered Nurse may also assume
Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.
Performs
comprehensive nursing assessment on all clients within 8 hours of
admission inclusive of the bio-psychosocial and medical history with
consideration to age, mental, social and psychical status and
response.
Establishes
therapeutic re! lationships with clients and provides assigned client
care! within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the
Department of Nursing and the
facility.
Identifies client problems based upon data
collected through nursing assessment as well as integrating
information obtained through family, significant other and/or primary
care giver.
Monitors unit
milieu and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for clients,
family members and staff. Modifies milieu according to developmental
needs of the clients.
Implements interventions appropriate to the
developmental needs of the client in accordance with the treatment
plan demonstrating professional judgment and
competency.
Identifies
at-risk clients & implements procedures to monitor & reduce
at risk
behaviors.
Accurately and safely administers
prescribed medications and treatments using correct methods of
administration to all
clients.

Requirements
Education
Graduate of
an accredited Registered Nurse program.
Experience
One-year
prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.
Willing to train new graduates
Licensure
Licensure
and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nurse Examiners as a
registered nurse.
Knowledge
Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing
processes, therapeutic relationships and processes,
age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis
and behavior management and CPR training.
Full-Time Positions Available:
7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. (36 hour FT position) with rotating
days off
2:45 p.m. - 11:15 p.m. (32 hour FT position)
