Night Shift 7p-7a

Requires experienced pediatric nurses. The Staff RN must have at least! one year of acute care and/or critical care setting. The Staff RN must be willing to accept a unit assignment in any areas(s) he/she has demonstrated competence. Must be able to work in more than one area. Placement of the float pool staff will be determined by management based on the needs assessment of the units. The placement will be based on demand to address the increased acuity, census, and sudden vacancies, i.e., ill calls. Placement of staff will be done the prior shift by the management team. As patient care needs change during the shifts, the float staffs RN may be asked to move to another area.

Applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care. team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions. Furthers professional growth by e! ngaging in 10 hours of learning activities annually. Required ! to be available to work 8 weekend shifts per quarter (two -6 week schedule periods) Required to work two holidays and available for two hard to staff days per year. Requires competency to work in acute care AND critical care settings (inclusive to all critical care and step down units AND all general care units). May be re-directed mid shift to other areas utilized in specific roles or by AC or designee. This position is not eligible for VPNPP advancement.

Takes on additional clinical responsibilities and/or assists others.

Organizes work and manages changes in work demands for effective use of time.

Delegates to staff appropriately, with consideration for other team members' workload.

Patients and families are satisfied with the care this nurse has given.

Manages complex clinical situations.

CONTINUUM OF CARE PLANNING

Identifies discharge/transfer needs and initiates plan for movement to next level of care.

Uses internal & external referrals & resources that support patients/families through continuum of care.

Initiates change in plan for next level of care in unexpected, changing and complex situations.

Acts to resolve systems breakdowns, knowledge, and behavior issues that impact continuum of care needs.

PATIENT & FAMILY EDUCATION

Incorporates a variety of resources to teach and support patient and family learning

! Individualizes patient/family education for complex patients/families !

Led in development/revision/use of teaching tools/aids for specific population within the last year.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Identifies and takes action to resolve patient safety related problems and other clinical issues.

Identifies and takes action to resolve systems (operational/workarounds) problems.

Follows appropriate chain of command when problem solving.

Actively participates in team/group problem solving.

Uses interdisciplinary approach to lead others in problem solving projects and evaluates outcomes using data.

Is a consultant to manager (ex: clinical, proposed changes, dept enhancements).

Basic Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Job requires Graduate of an accredited nursing program and 1 year of nursing experience required. Pediatric experience strongly preferred. Previous emergency, critical care and ICU nursing experience

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
Registered Nurse â€" ASN, BSN, MSN preferred

Current state Registered Nurse license; or eligible for immediate state license.

This is a full-time position. Shifts - nights.
